                           All Matter Has Density
  • Denser things are more crowded or more tightly packed
  • Density cannot be measured directly.
  • Density can be calculated by knowing mass and volume
  • For an object to float, relative to its surroundings, it must be less dense than its surroundings.
  • Mass is how much matter is inside of an object.
  • Volume is how much space something takes up.
  • We can use the pattern between volume and mass to make predictions about the mass of a substance based on its volume or the volume of a substance based on its mass.

The triple beam balance is an instrument used to measure mass. The name refers to the three beams including the middle beam which is the largest size, the far beam which is the medium size, and the front beam which is the smallest size.
