Grading PolicyAs we cover the many standards in class, good work practices are an important piece of learning. Assignments are standards based and scored using the following rubric. This rubric is designed to help you (the student) and me get a sense of how well you understand the material that is covered in class. Together, we can pinpoint areas of confusion and areas we master; therefore it is important that only you (the student) complete assigned work, including homework, that way we can clear up misconceptions and fine tune our learning. We typically apply different strategies to our assignments, so always pay close attention to the directions.
Rather than giving a grade for everything, the students will be given grades for assignments related to content material we have spent a few days on. This allows some assignments like reflections on lab activities, interactive notebooks, or group discussions to take place without stress or fear of failure. Students are required to put forth effort at all times, apply specific strategies to their work, and follow all parts of the directions Scores are based 4 point system that will then be converted to a grade percentage. This scoring system is based on how well the student is able to meet the learning target. The learning targets are always posted clearly for students to see each day.
