Science at Home
Go to your google classroom... we will be using that moving forward.
WAVES and Their Applications in Technology
Starting today, all assignments and tasks will be on google classroom. If you are having trouble logging on or need your class period code, let me know and I will be happy to help. Send me an email and we will figure it out from there.

Good Morning! I hope you and your families are doing well and staying healthy. I hope you had a chance to get some fresh air yesterday. It is so important to get fresh air. While it is challenging to just stay home, you can go outside in your yard or driveway for some fresh air and maybe some exercise. Try some jumping jacks, run in place or from one end of the yard to the other a few times. e need to get some sunshine and exercise to stay healthy. Sitting for hours isn't good. As I mentioned earlier this week, sunshine is good for us; especially, for some vitamin D and to help us absorb certain minerals like calcium. The sun's rays help your body make vitamin D, which is important for your bones, blood cells, and immune system.
Let's do a Friday morning check in question. You will find this question on the Google Classroom sent to you. If for some reason you can't access it, no worries, email me: boydenc@fitchburg.k12.ma.us
Friday: 3/27/2020... Fresh Air Friday "What is your favorite outdoor activity and why?"
Let's stay connected, while I will add some learning tasks, I also want to make sure we check and hear from you too! Each day I will post a check in question. In the meantime, I am exploring learning tasks that will be more than just a question with an answer. I posted a virtual field trip. If you haven't checked it out yet, head over to your google classroom account. If you can't find your account or you need the code, let me know and I will work on getting you set up.
Next week- We are looking to start up science online next week. If you don't have a chromebook or internet or need food, please email me. All of your teachers and Mrs. Lavoie are working to make sure you are getting what you need.
Daily Reminders: Stay Positive, Be Kinder than Necessary, and Help out at home as much as you can. We are stronger together!

Need a refresher on sound waves? Check out the video below-
Here are some simulations to help you remember the topics we covered over the last month. They are great to use to review.
Feeling the Sound- Check out this simulation on amplitude (loudness and pitch) Feel what happens to the sound when you adjust the loudness and pitch. “What do you feel happen when you touch the speaker?” and “What do you hear happen to the sound?”
Turn It Up! - In this simulation, adjust the slider to increase or decrease the loudness of a sound. You can also manipulate (change up) the time scale.
Pitch-Hitting the High Notes- Here you can adjust the slider to increase or decrease the pitch of a sound. Also manipulate the time scale like in Turn It Up!
Visualizing Sound in a Medium- This simulation demonstrates a slow-motion version of what it would look like if you could see particles in a medium vibrating. The wave-like diagram underneath the air particle representation is a graph of the motion of the sound source. Only the particle diagram is a representation of the sound wave.
